Module 2

1. If you are to become a part of the VSU team who will formulate a handbook like that of Virginia University, give at least 2 policies that you want to be implemented in VSU or even just for CS students like you, regarding computing. Also include sanction or sort of punishment to those who will violate the said policy.

              If I were to implement policies regarding computing and give its equivalent sanction, probably I would have these 2;
             *Policy I: Use of computing resources for online gaming is strictly prohibited.
              Sanction: Suspension of computing privileges for the entire current semester.

 *Policy II: Use of computing resources for malicious intents such as pornographic sites are strictly prohibited.
             Sanction: Suspension of computing privileges for the entire current semester.

2.  According to the definition of ethics, it can be connected to the norms or custom of the society. What could be ethical to one could be unethical to another. If this is the case, in which ethics seem to be subjective in nature, why is there a need to study computer ethics at all? Support your opinion with facts.

                There is a need to study computer ethics since people tend to be irresponsible oftentimes. If certain protocols are to be given, by doing so will make us behave like responsible professionals. Being responsible and accountable of our own actions should be strictly observed individually. For as we belong to a very competitive world, we need to learn the proper manners to be able to compete with others. It has become an imperative for us since we are computer users.
                Just like in companies nowadays. Several employees have lost their jobs due to their complete lack of ethical behavior in the aspect of using their computers at work for strictly business purposes. If one cannot learn to properly use these materials, how can we improve? It might not be very important for others to learn computer ethics but as our world rely on these new technologies, computers, the basic learning on the proper usage and conduct should be developed to avoid chaos and misusage.

3. There are 4 types of non-jural law. Divine, natural, moral and physical. If you are to practice just one type of the non-jural law for the entire existence of your life, what would it be and why?

                Among the various types of non-jural law sited above, I would choose DIVINE LAW if it were the only law that I can practice in my entire existence. Since according to what I’ve learned from CS 192, “All other laws fall under the divine law as it encompasses and governs not only human action but the whole universe as well”.
                Since I was brought up as a firm believer, a Christian, I will certainly remain to live as what I have been until the end. Because as I can see, so far, my life is full of contentment and satisfaction just by living in God’s will. And this is my own freewill. To follow what is righteous and live peacefully for my entire existence.
                “God is everything. And without Him, I am nothing!”
